Clay Art Studio, LLC was founded by Kaye and Ron Shuck in April of 2004.

We were originally located at 1660 S. George Washington Blvd. This was a great building, but it was difficult for people to find. We have a lot of good memories from this building.

We would like to thank Tony King for all his help. We would also like to thank Kaye's parents, Bob and Wanda, for their help and support.

In March of 2006, we moved to our new location in Delano. We were deeply touched by all the help we received from our students and family during the move. The morning of the move we had three large trailers and several trucks. It was truly amazing. To all that helped that day, we will never forget your help and support.

Of course Kaye Shuck is the heart and soul of Clay Art Studio. She has shared her love of pottery with hundreds of students over the years. Many students have faithfully followed Kaye from location to location.

I am continually amazed at her talent, and her ability to convey her knowledge to her students. Trust me if she can teach me to throw, she can teach anyone. She has also mentored several students who have went on to teach their own classes. Kaye doesn't just focus on the art of throwing. She also teaches carving, hand building, and special glazing techniques. She is constantly testing new ideas and sharing them with her class.

Kaye has won several awards for her pottery including First Place in the Kansas Artist Association show in 2001, but she does not typically enter contests or shows. Kaye specializes in functional pottery with an artistic flare. You can view and purchase many of her pieces in the Clay Art Studio gallery.

Anyone who has visited the studio on the weekend is probably familiar with these two. This is Keesha Marie (right) and Haley. They are our babies. Keesha has a very important job at the studio. She is like the Wal-Mart greeter. While Haley is like a door chime (okay, more like a door barker).

The "girls" are both mixed breed puppies rescued from the local shelter. Although they look related, Haley is a Collie mix and Keesha is a Sheppard and Golden Retriever mix.

Kaye and I are very fond of animals, and each year support both the Kansas Human Society Woofstock and the Sedgwick County Zoo's Zoobile. In fact, Kaye and several students provided the trophies for Woofstock 2006.

It is also our love of animals that initiated our special line of Pet Urns. All of our Urns are hand thrown and glazed with love and care. The loss of a family pet is very sad, so we like to focus on the happy memories of our furry little friends.

I also play my small role in Clay Art Studio. Being a computer geek, I manage the web site and keep the computers working. I also get the really fun job of doing our taxes and other boring paperwork, yuck! I even throw on the wheel once in a while. Although, I am definitely not the artist in the family. If you happen to see me at the wheel, stand back or you are liable to get covered in clay.

Thanks for visiting our site. We hope to see you real soon.
